ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY
We invite you to apply to join our team part-time Assistant Park Ranger for our Field Day Park at Lake Wylie. This exciting opportunity will assist with the overall operation and maintenance of the County Park working on a team. This position performs diversified duties as governed by general instruction, policies, and standard operating procedures of the Department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with operational activities to include specific areas such as registering park campers, retail sales, and day use area/shelter rentals; collects and records all revenue; maintains records of park attendance and permits issued. Stocks and maintains proper inventory.
- Assists in traffic control during summer weekends and special events. Controls Park access, including opening, closing, and monitoring traffic through the park gates.
- Performs general clerical duties, including but not limited to answering the telephone, entering, and retrieving computer data, and copying and filing documents.
- Performs limited maintenance and housekeeping duties in the campground area and restrooms.
- Assists with administrative activities to include, but not limited to, receiving and documenting revenues and preparing reports.
- Assists in daily close-out procedures throughout the park, including within the point of sale and reservation systems.
- Aids and works to maintain a safe environment for park visitors through the enforcement of park rules, regulations and policies.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Certifications and Licenses:
- Valid state driver's license.
Applicants with equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities/Attributes:
- Knowledge of facilities maintenance and cleaning.
- Knowledge of retail business and inventory including use of yard and lawn maintenance.
- Knowledge of park rules.
- Knowledge of computer, specialized software programs and general office procedures and protocols. Customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to problem solve.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Physical and Dexterity Requirements:
Requires work involving: sitting and talking or hearing over 2/3 of the time; standing and walking 1/3 to 2/3 of the time; and sitting, gripping or feeling with hands, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing and stooping, and kneeling, crouching, or crawling less than 1/3 of the time. Requires lifting up to 10 pounds over 2/3 of the time; and up to 50 pounds under 1/3 of the time.
Vision Requirements:
No special vision requirements. Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors); Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up or down or to the left and right when vision is fixed on a given point); Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
